Conference 2009
Second ESITIS conference, 15-18 April 2009
The 2009 ESITIS conference was held from 15 till 18 April and organised by the Center for Intercultural Theology and Study of Religions at the University of Salzburg, Austria.
The theme of the conference was Interreligious hermeneutics in pluralistic Europe. The conference dealt with scriptural reasoning and comparative theology as models of interreligious hermeneutics, discussing also current issues such as polemical uses of sacred texts and gendered hermeneutics.
Among others, keynote speakers were prof. Kajsa Ahlstrand (Uppsala), prof. Nicholas Adams (Cambridge), prof. Francis Clooney (Harvard), prof. Anne Sofie Roald (Bergen), dr. John Cheswick (Oxford) and prof. Andreas Nehring (Erlangen).
A book will be published after the conference, in the series Currents of Encounter (forthcoming, 2010).
