The Resurgence of Religion in Europe Exploring the implications of Religious Pluralism in Europe
Birmingham, UK, 2007

The goal of the very first ESITIS conference was to obtain a better view of the profound changes occurring in the religious realities of modern Europe, both with respect to their nature and their extent. The conference explored this in three main sub-themes: “Islamic ‘Theology’ in Europe,” “Christian Migrants and their Theologies” and “Inter-cultural Theology and Interreligious Studies in Europe.” Each session, centred around one of these sub-themes, included a keynote speaker and respondents. Of these sub-themes, a keynote speaker and other main speakers presented responses but also offered their own developments. The conference brought together some of the main scholars in the field and led to a highly informed debate.
